This study aimed at investigating the effect of teaching computer using critical thinking activities on metacognitive thinking level for tenth grade students in Amman. The study sample consisted of (164) male and female students from two high schools in Al-Jamiah directorate. The sample was divided randomly in two an experimental (male and female) groups and two control groups (male and female), using the quasi experimental approach. A Critical thinking activity which had been prepared with the help of distinguished computer teacher was deployed to both experimental groups, where the control groups received no critical thinking activities. To achieve the aim of the study, an Arabic version of Shraw and Dension's (1994) metacognitive thinking scale was used; validity and reliability were verified using Pearson correlation and Cronbach Alpha coefficient. The results of the study revealed that the level of metacognition thinking significantly improved in favor of the experimental groups. Also, significant differences were demonstrated for the interaction between gender and group in favor of female students. The study recommend training teacher on how to acquiring students metacognitive thinking skills, through using critical thinking activities. (Published Abstract)
