The current research aims to identify the impact of the brainstorming strategy on learning the skill of written expression among middle school students (using Erbil Governorate as a model), to know the availability of these skills among middle school students in Erbil Governorate, and to measure the effectiveness of the brainstorming strategy in learning the skill of written expression among students. The preparatory stage and the problem of the current research are determined by answering the following main question: What is the effect of using brainstorming on learning the skill of written expression in the Arabic language for the eleventh-grade students in Erbil Preparatory School? The study used a semi-experimental design with two groups, and the research sample included 80 students from the eleventh grade at Erbil preparatory school. The research group was divided into two groups: an experimental group (which studied written expression skills using the brainstorming method) and a control group that received traditional instruction. The study's findings revealed the effectiveness of the brainstorming strategy in developing eleventh grade students' written expression skills. There are statistically significant differences at the level (0.01) between the mean scores of the experimental group in the pre and post scales of written expression skills in favor of the post scale in the experimental group. The research presented several recommendations, the most important of which are teaching other branches of the Arabic language using the brainstorming method, providing an atmosphere of freedom and positive free discussion for students to develop their creative abilities, training Arabic language teachers to use the brainstorming method in teaching Arabic, and preparing expression topics in light of the brainstorming strategy in the student book or course guide provided for the students.
