The aim of this research is to study the effect of small games in developing some mental abilities represented in emotional intelligence and selective attention among primary school students (07-08) years. The sample of the study consisted of twenty-six (26) primary school students, distributed into two groups: thirteen (13) for experimental and thirteen (13) for control, from the elementary school of M.Omar Azaghar in the state of Bejaia. A program of small games was prepared that included sixteen (16) educational units distributed on specific mental abilities. To measure these abilities, we have used the emotional intelligence scale of “Youssef Eid'' and the Strobe test to measure the selective attention. In light of the obtained results, the study showed the effectiveness of the proposed program with small games in developing some mental abilities (emotional intelligence and selective attention) among primary school students (07-08) years.
