The study aimed to reveal the estimates of students of the Geography Department at Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University to the degree of difficulties they face in studying topographic and geological maps course. The researcher prepared a questionnaire containing (64) phrases including five main areas: The difficulties related to objectives of the course (13), difficulties related to course content (15), difficulties related to methods of teaching the course (12), difficulties related to techniques and resources for teaching (12), difficulties related to methods of course evaluation (12). The descriptive survey approach used in this study and the study community represented students of the geography department whose number reached (140) students. The findings of the study indicated that the general standard of difficulties in teaching topographic and geological maps course according to students of the geography department were highly agreed with the five fields of study. The difficulties of the techniques and sources of teaching the course came first with an average (3.95). Lastly, came the field of difficulties of the methods of evaluating the course with average (3.33) and with medium degree of agreement. The important recommendations of the study: The necessity of providing tools, equipment and learning resources essential to teach the course, and giving training to develop the skills of the teachers who study courses of geographical maps.
