This study aims at exploring the degree to which the knowledge management associated with the organizational structure (organizational chart, administrative leadership, organizational culture, and information technology) is practiced in the directorate general of education in Muscat governorate. It also aims at proposing mechanisms to enhance the role of organizational structure in practicing knowledge management in that directorate. To conduct this study, the descriptive approach was adopted where quantitative data was collected using a questionnaire containing (24) statements distributed into the four dimensions of the organizational structure. To verify the suitability of the questionnaire, the psychometric properties, validity, and reliability, of the tool were used. The face validity was measured by investigating the trustees' opinions, internal validity of statements and dimensions was measured by Pearson coefficient, and the internal consistency was measured by alpha Cronbach. The results indicated that the questionnaire was characterized by a high degree of validity and reliability. The study sample included (146) individuals which means (30%) of the study population that amounted to (485) individuals. Quantitative data were analyzed by calculating the arithmetic means and standard deviations. The results showed that the degree of knowledge management practices in each dimension of the organizational structure (organizational chart, administrative leadership, organizational culture, and information technology) in the directorate general of education in muscat governorate is medium among the individuals of the study sample. Based on the results of the field study, the study proposes some mechanisms for each dimension of the organizational structure to enhance its role in improving knowledge management practices in the directorate general of education in Muscat governorate. The study ended with suggesting a group of related studies that can be conducted in the future. (Published abstract)
