This study aims to test the effectiveness of a counseling program based on play in developing creative thinking among the preschool children. A semi-experimental design was used through a sample of 40 children. Participant was divided into two groups: experimental and control. A counseling program based on play was designed for the study, and applied on the experimental group, in 12 sessions, as two sessions weekly, each of which lasted for 60 minutes. The study results showed statistically significant differences between the experimental and the control groups in the post test on the creative thinking among the preschool children, in favor of the experimental group. Differences between the pre and posttest in the experimental group were also statistically significant, in favor of the post test. Additionally, there were no differences between the post and the follow-up test in the experimental group, which indicates the effectiveness of the counseling program in developing the creative thinking after six weeks of treatment. The results also showed that the impact of the counseling program reached (893). Based on the results, the study recommends applying the developed counseling program to other communities, and for similar or different counseling purposes. (Published abstract)
