The aim of the study was to reveal the status quo of national and civil education textbooks for 8th, 9th and 10th basic grades in Jordan from teachers' perspective using a set of standards. To achieve that aim, the researchers developed an instrument consisting of (10) items employed the qualitative design. An interview with (21) national and civil education teachers of the total population consisting of (67) national and civil education teachers was conducted at the public schools in al Ramtha district educational directorate. The results of the study revealed that basic graders national and civil education textbooks consider the levels among students in addition to considering the suitable sequence and order in presenting the topics. They contribute in promoting different values among students, work on developing students' attitudes in preventing and treating extremism and terrorism. They work on developing social skills, critical, creative and reflective thinking skills among students. The study revealed that textbooks concentrate on the theoretical knowledge more than applied knowledge in addition to the apparent weak role in developing the positive use of technology among students. The researchers suggested some recommendations, the most important of which is the need to balance the theoretical and practical aspects of textbook and enhance the technological aspect, and improve the school environment to suit the teaching of national education especially with regard to applied and technological aspects.
