The study aimed to identify the effectiveness of the strategy of mental perception in the development of reading comprehension skills, and the tendency towards reading in the sixth-grade pupils. The researcher used the semi-experimental approach based on the design of the experimental and control groups, designed a test for reading comprehension, the study sample consisted of (37) students in one of the schools affiliated to Mahwah governorate in Al-Baha area in Saudi Arabia. They were divided into two groups: experimental (19) students, taught using the strategy of mental perception, and the other; in the usual way, I was using the data processing test (Mann-Whitney) for independent samples, and the equation calculating the size of the effect. The results of the study showed that there were differences between the mean scores of the two groups in the post measurement of the reading comprehension test at the levels of "direct comprehension". The control obtained an average of 11.22 versus 26.37 for the experimental. In the deductive understanding, in comparison to (26.42) for experimental, and in (critical understanding) the control obtained an average of (11.69) compared to (25.92) of the experimental, and at the level of (total score of understanding) the control obtained the average (10.06) compared to (27.47) statistically in favor of the experimental group, as well as differences between the mean scores of the two groups; (14.22) compared with (22.87) for experimental, and d for the experimental group. The magnitude of the effect of the strategy of mental perception in the development of reading comprehension skills ranged between (0.66 - 0.71) for skills and (0.37) (81%) of the students in the distance measurement of reading comprehension skills, and (37%) of the difference in the degrees of students in the post-measurement of the trend is due to the impact of the strategy of mental perception, large).
