The aim of the study was to identify the inclusion level of primary sources knowledge and skills in upper basic stage history textbooks in Jordan. To achieve this objective a list containing primary sources knowledge and skills was developed. Reliability and validity for the list were obtained. Eighth ninth and tenth grades history textbooks were analyzed using the developed list in the second semester of the school year 20116/2017. The analyzed history textbooks were purposefully selected as all units included in eighth ninth and tenth grades history textbooks were analyzed. The results of the study indicated that the primary sources knowledge and skills were sequent and logically presented in the tenth grade history textbook ranking first in the inclusion level of primary sources knowledge and skills followed by ninth grade history textbook and finally eighth grade history textbook, signifying the fact that history textbooks developers adopt a clear strategy that considers gradual inclusion primary sources knowledge and skills, thus; to be acquired gradually by students. The study concluded with some recommendations including the need to promote primary sources knowledge and skills in history textbooks. (Published abstract)
