The aim of the study was to develop a unit in geography textbook based on scamper program and then assess its effect on developing creative imagination and visual thinking among students. The semi-experimental design was employed. To achieve the aim of the study, a developed geography unit, a creative imagination achievement test and visual thinking achievement were prepared. Validity and reliability for the instruments were obtained. The instruments of the study were administrated to a sample consisting of (59) students assigned randomly to two groups, the first was control, consisting of (26) students, while the second was experimental, consisting of (33) students in the school year 2016/2017. The results of the study showed statistically significant differences (α=0.05) in developing creative imagination and visual thinking due to the instructional program (the developed unit/ traditional), in favor of the experimental group; as the results showed significant variation in the means scores and standard deviations on the creative imagination test based on the study groups ( control, experimental). The results of the study indicated statistically significant differences due to study group in skills, except for details skill. The results of the study found statistically significant differences due to study group in visual thinking test, in favor of the experimental group taught using the developed unit in light of scamper program. In light of the results, several recommendations were suggested. (Published abstract)
