أثر وسائل الإعلام في تعزيز المشاركة السياسية لطلبة الجامعات في مملكة ‏البحرين



The study aims to measure the role of traditional and modern media both public and private in enhancing the political participation of university students in Bahrain. In addition to measuring the differences in the level of impact that social media on the political participation from the perspective of the university students in the Kingdom of Bahrain due to the variables of gender and college. The study adopted statistical and analytical approaches to answer its’ questions; the Statistical approach and analytical approach. The study sample consist of all Bachelor degree students in the University of Bahrain, who are registered for the first semester of 2018, amounting to 3621 female and male students. The researcher adopted the international cluster sample of 355 bachelor degree students at the University of Bahrain, representing the total size of the sample. A questionnaire was used to collect information and data. For statistical processing purposes, a data processing package (SPSS) was used to process data; extract frequencies and averages and standard deviations according to the study questions, and a significance level of a≤ 0.05. The study found that the political field was the most important are of interest among the students with at a %64.2). It also indicated that the Parliamentary voting is very important with a degree of %57.2. The study showed that there is a very small percentage (%7.6) of bachelor degree students at the University of Bahrain who had continues political participation. However, it found a high level of agreement regarding the role media plays in motivating students towards political work in the Kingdom Bahrain; the total answers’ average to this area was 3.92. In the of its findings the study highlights the importance of spreading awareness among university students regarding the investment of modern social media in developing the students’ skills and knowledge, in addition to working to enhancing the role of universities in the field of political participation among elections, as students are being exposed to intellectual, cultural and media invasion that could affect there national character.
