تقويم محتوى كتب الرياضيات الفلسطينية المطورة للمرحلة الثانوية في ضوء معايير (nctm)



This study aims at evaluating the content of the developed Palestinian mathematics textbooks for secondary stage, particularly for tenth and eleventh grades of scientific stream in light of (NCTM) content standards in the fields of numbers and processes, algebra, geometry and measurement, data analysis and probability. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical approach. In order to achieve the study objectives, a list of (NCTM) standards was translated and prepared for the content of the developed mathematics textbooks for secondary school; tenth and eleventh grades of scientific stream. This is in addition to preparing an analysis card for the content of the developed mathematics textbooks for tenth and eleventh grades of scientific stream in light of the list of the standards, which was applied in Palestine for the school year 2017-2018. This resulted into a sample of four textbooks. Therefore, the results of the study showed that the content of the developed Palestinian mathematics textbooks for secondary school of tenth grade corresponded to 54.92% with the NCTM standards. Furthermore, the content of the developed textbooks is 39 indicators out of 71 sub-indicators in the four fields. However, the content of the developed Palestinian mathematics textbooks for secondary school of eleventh grade corresponded to 66.19% with the NCTM standards. The content of the developed textbooks is 47 indicators out of 71 subindicators in the four fields. The study recommended completing the unfulfilled standards' indicators in the developed mathematics textbooks for tenth and eleventh grades. The researcher also recommended reviewing different weaknesses found in the developed mathematics textbooks and enhancing their strength aspects. In light of NCTM standards, the researcher encourage conducting more evaluation studies for the content of Palestinian mathematics textbooks for different educational stages. (Author's abstract)
