The purpose of this study was to analyze the of the mathematics textbooks for the seventh basic grade in Jordan in light of problem solving criteria from the standards of the National Council of Mathematics Teachers (NCTM- 2000). To achieve the objective of the study، an analysis instrument consisting of six basic criteria of the National Council of Mathematics Teachers (NCTM- 2000). Validity and reliability of the instrument were established. The results of the study indicated that to use problem-solving strategies to understand the mathematical content criterion ranked first of the problem solving criteria in examples and activities، while to develop and use different problem solving strategies ranked last in examples and activities. It was also found that to formulate real life mathematical problems criterion ranked first in the suggested question to evaluate content acquisition، while to generalize the problem solving strategies on new problems criterion ranked last in the suggested question to evaluate content acquisition.
