مهارات التفكير الناقد المتضمنة في كتاب اللغة العربية للصف الثامن في الأردن : دراسة وصفية تحليلية

This study aimed at identifying the extent of the existence of critical thinking skills in the eighth grade Arabic language textbook (communication skills) in Jordan. The researcher used the descriptive approach by using the content analysis. To achieve the research aims a critical thinking skills instrument was designed and it consisted of five domains which are identifying assumptions skill it consisted of seven secondary skills, deduction skill it consisted of seven secondary skills, interpretation skill it consisted of five secondary skills, analysis skill it consisted of seven secondary skills and evaluation skill it consisted of seven secondary skills. The instrument consisted of 33 secondary after making sure of the questionnaire validity by showing it to a group of referees calculating its reliability according to Holisty equation, and extracting the frequencies and percentages for each domain and statement, the results showed that there was a difference in the distribution of the critical thinking skills statements. The skill of identifying assumptions took the first rank with 98 frequencies followed by interpretation skills (93 frequencies), then deductive skills 99 frequencies, followed by evaluation skills 60 frequencies, finally analysis skills 49 frequencies. Results also showed that narrative lessons included more critical thinking skills than poetry lessons, the study recommended several recommendations, as enriching communication skills with activities, questions, and evaluation tools which support higher thinking skills.
