This research has dealt with the need for learning sources concerning the secondary stage (Khartoum North locality as an example). The research covers the period of time starting from 2008 up to 2012. It treats a basic problem that is the lack of learning sources in the secondary stage in Khartoum North locality which is bad need for such sources. The importance of this research is that it indicates the lack of studies in the university libraries in Sudan and it assures the necessity for providing learning sources because of their efficient role in supporting learning process in addition to the total necessity for such sources in the secondary stage, a thing that affects the learning process negatively or positively and motivates researchers to deal seriously with such studies. This research is a contribution to assure the great role learning sources have in learning process in the secondary stage and the knowledge of the negative effects resulting from such lack upon the learning process. The research also seeks for developing positive attitudes towards providing learning sources in the secondary stage and encouraging educational institutions to establish learning sources centers even on the level of localities. The researcher followed various methods in conducting this study such as the historical, descriptive and case-study methods. One of the most important results is that learning sources have a great role in facilitating both processes of teaching and learning in the secondary stage where they satisfy the learner’s psychological and educational needs and care for the education technology. The secondary stage is really in bad need for learning sources centers to develop the learner’s abilities, developing the spirit of collective learning and developing individual responsibility. The lack of learning sources centers binds teachers to follow traditional teaching methods. So, they do not make use of modern learning materials or developing the skills of using education technology. (Author's abstract)
