The concept of Knowledge management is regarded as one of the contemporary terms in management science. It has been applied in Universities and Educational institutions and has become important in the Administrational and educational fields. Its importance comes from the increasing awareness of its importance for the role it plays by the augmentation of tasks. For the role which may surpass his other task. The researcher saw it necessary to know the level of knowledge management at the colleges of Baghdad University and its relation to the job performance. The present study aims at knowing: 1) The level of knowledge management for the heads of department at the colleges of Baghdad University. 2) The level of job performance for the heads of department at the colleges of Baghdad University. 3) The relationship between knowledge management and job performance for the heads of department at the colleges of Baghdad University. 4) The differences for knowledge management for the heads of department are attributed to gender variable ]Males, Females[. 5) The differences for the job performance for the heads of department are attributed to gender variable ]Males, Females[. In order to verify the objectives, the researcher depended on the descriptive procedure and made two questionnaire forms; one is for the knowledge management and the other is for job performance; The knowledge management's questionnaire included five fields which were: (Knowledge Identification, Knowledge Generating, Knowledge Storage, Knowledge Distribution and Knowledge Application) and included 39 items, while the job performance questionnaire consists of four fields which are: (practical and research tasks, management and administrational tasks, teaching and educational tasks, environment and social services). It included 46 items. The two instruments of the study include were distributed among 164 heads of department at the colleges of Baghdad University and distributed on 111 males and 53 females for the year 2012-2013. The samples of study included 153 heads of department who responded to the two instruments of the study distributed on 103 males and 50 females i.e. 93.3% of the total community. The data were analyzed using the (SPSS) and were processed by using the statistical means (Mean and Std. Deviation, Chi-square test, Person Correlation, Alpha-Cronbach and Independent Samples t- test). Thus the study comes up to the following results: 1) The practice of knowledge management processes by heads of departments at the colleges of Baghdad University is above the average. 2) Perform the heads of department at the colleges of Baghdad University for their tasks is above the average. 3) There is a positive statistical relationship between Knowledge management and job performance for the heads of department at the colleges of Baghdad University. 4) There were significant statistical differences for the heads of department's answers in the fields of (Knowledge Identification, Knowledge Generating, Knowledge Storage, Knowledge Distribution) attributed to the gender variable in favor of the male, While there were no statistically significant differences in knowledge application field. 5) There were no statistically significant differences for the heads of department’s answers in the fields of (practical and research tasks, management and administrational tasks, teaching and educational tasks) due to gender variable, but there were significant statistical differences in environment and social services field in favor of the males.
