The problem of the research lies in the researcher’s observation that some methods of lesson implementation depend on the teacher’s academic experience and may not be compatible with the capabilities of the learner or student when studying the game of volleyball and practicing it with sufficient time and mastering the skills of the game, which makes the student a recipient and responsive to the teacher’s orders and the lack of adequate opportunities to develop his level skills, which necessitated the use of educational exercises in a guided discovery method that may contribute to raising the level of performance and improving the skill of receiving volleyball. The research aims at the effect of using educational exercises in a guided discovery method in learning the skill of receiving volleyball for students at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences / University of Diyala. Diyala for the academic year 2021/2021. As for the research sample, it consisted of 30 students who were randomly divided into two groups, experimental and control, with a rate of (15) students for each group. To extract the results of the research, and through this, the researcher concluded that the educational exercises in the method of directed discovery had a positive effect on learning and retaining the skill of receiving volleyball.
