The study mainly aimed at improving curriculum policies and systems in the general education in the Arab countries. To achieve this goal, the study took three main tracks. Firstly, detecting and analyzing the best global practices based on four dimensions derived from literature, reports, models, and theoretical and applied frameworks. These dimensions include policies and systems of planning, design, implementation, and evaluation undertaking in the selected benchmark countries (Scotland, Australia, Canada (British Columbia), Singapore and South Africa). The benchmark countries are selected based in specific criteria. Secondly, analyzing the current situation in a number of Arab countries considering the same dimensions of development in addition to detecting relevant challenges. The selected Arab countries are the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco. Thirdly, proposing an easy-to-apply and flexible framework for improvement that suits many educational systems, and is based on an analysis of the gap between the advanced international experiences and the Arab reality.
