This study is mostly concerned with outlining various manifestations of a proposed vision about Arabic grammar as a requirement in Hodeida University. This can be done through the achievement of the following objectives: 1) Introduce a complete vision about Arabic grammar as a requirement in Hodeida University. 2) Attempt to address the current Arabic grammar course that is taught in Hodeida University. 3) Offer clear recommendations and suggestions that will help to improve the grammar course for University students. This research is trying to answer the following questions: 1) What is the current reality of the Arabic grammar course as a requirement in Hodeida University? 2) What is the suggestive vision of the grammar course as a requirement in Hodeida University? My choice of this research drives its significance from the following: 1) It provides clear and new vision of grammar course in the university that will help to improve the course in Hodeida University and other universities in Yemen and Araba countries. 2) It will also study in details the current grammar course and offer clear suggestions and recommendations in this regard that could benefit the University of Hodeida in particular and the rest of Universities in general. The research community and its sample consisted of a number of experts in curricula and teaching methods and specialists in Arabic language sciences at the University of Sanaa, Hodeida, Amran and the university of Science and Technology. The cross analysis of the cases and of the theoretical with practical parts give important results that allow to design the framework of this study. These theoretical and practical outcomes, the generation of which intertwined, are briefly presented as follows: Theoretical part: 1) There is a great correlation between grammar and language skills as grammar is not an end in itself but a natural means. 2) The deficiencies in the current grammar course as a requirement require systematic changes and modifications. 3) The complaint about Arabic grammar course is almost as agreed upon in different times and places. Practical part: 1) The samples of this study have agreed with the proposed vision with a percentage of 100% in five axes of the proposed visions. 2) The Content field gets 98%. The recommendations of this study are: 1) There must be much focus and attention on grammar courses in all different levels of studies especially at universities. 2) It is so necessary to establish especial and joint committees of professors of Arabic language and professors of curricula and teaching methods to avoid the current shortcomings resulting from improvisation and unilateralism. 3) Grammar must be introduced with different activities, new methods and aids in order to eliminate the difficulty of grammar on our students’ at all educational levels. 4) Academic affairs at the university should fulfill their duties and responsibilities in paying attention to teaching grammar courses and reviewing them from time to time. 5) Adopting the outcomes of this study at the University of Hodeida and forming a committee to prepare it in practical way. 6) Grammar courses should not be presented to familiarize students with the grammatical rules but rather to acquire language skills. The findings from the data analysis and content analysis of the present study have outlined the need for further studies as follows: 1) Similar study for grammar course can be done in Yemeni Universities. 2) It might be benefited to carry out similar studies in the Arabic language course, the university requirement for the rest of the Arabic language arts. 3) It is necessary to create specialized committees of professors specializing in Arabic language and professors specializing in curricula and teaching methods to develop courses for Arabic Language Arts.
