The research study aims to identify the reasons for taking of drugs by university students based on their perspectives. This research study is conducted on the students of Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz University (PSAU) - KSA to identify the impact effect of the gender (male/female) factor rely on their responses. The researcher used the quantitative research method. A questionnaire is conducted on a random sample of 300 students. The study findings are indicated that the economic factors are classified as a first reason of the drug abuse; followed by personal factors and finally the political factors. Moreover, these findings are also indicated that bad company as a first reason of drug abuse based on females’ students’ perspectives; followed by familial education and awareness as a second impact, and political factors as the last reason. The findings show a big contrast between males' and females' perspectives in terms of the causes of drug abuse; on the other hand, their perspectives are unified between them in two factors: the weakness religious faith and political factors. To conclude, the research recommends concentrating efforts through media and guidance aspects for increasing families’ awareness regarding the risks of drugs on communities. (Published abstract)
