استخدم الباحث منهج المسح الاجتماعي بوصفة أحد المناهج الأساسية المستخدمة في الدراسات الاستطلاعية. قام باستخدام أداة الدراسة المتمثلة في استبانة تصف استخدام شبكة الإنترنت لدى الطلبة. وطرح 25 سؤالاً تكشف عن رؤية الطالب عن الاستخدامات المختلفة للإنترنت، وما لتلك الاستخدامات من تأثير على المستوى الدراسي، الحالة الإقتصادية، نوع ومكان الإقامة، وتم تطبيق الاستبانة على طلبة المعهد التقني كركوك بمحافظة كركوك (السنة الدراسية 2009-2010) وبلغ عددهم (120) طالباً وطالبة كمستخدمين لشبكة الإنترنت بمختلف التخصصات (الإدارية والتكنولوجية) وهم يمثلون عينة الدراسة. أظهرت نتيجة الإحصائيات بان نسبة كبيرة من طلبة الأقسام الإدارية (تسويق ومحاسبة) يستخدمون الحاسوب والإنترنت، أما بالنسبة لطلبة الأقسام التكنولوجية (المساحة، الصناعات الكيمياوية والكهرباء) فإن نسبة استخدامهم للإنترنت كانت معتدلة قياساً بذوي الاختصاص. The researcher used the survey method Social Council as a core curriculum used in the surveys, the researcher using the tool in the study of a questionnaire describing the use of the Internet by students. There were put’s (25) questions to reveal the vision of students for the various uses of the Internet. Moreover, see if those uses have an impact on the level of academic and economic situation, or the type and place of residence. The questionnaire was applied on the students of the institute technical Kirkuk, governorate of Kirkuk (school year 2010-2009), and numbered (120) male and female users of the Internet, they are different disciplines and they represent a sample of the study. Statistics have shown a result that a large proportion of students in Administrative Department (Marketing and Accounting) are using the Internet and the computer, and the students of Technology Departments (i.e. Surving, Industry, and Electricity), the rate of use of the Internet was mild compared to students with jurisdiction.
