يهدف البحث إلى تعرف العلاقة بين التفكير الجانبي والدافعية نحو مادة الرياضيات لدى طلبة المرحلة الإعدادية ولتحقيق هذا الهدف قام الباحثون بتطبيق اختبار التفكير الجانبي ومقياس الدافعية لتعلم الرياضيات على عينة البحث البالغ عددها (921) طالبا وطالبة من الصف الخامس العلمي في المدارس النهارية الثانوية والإعدادية بالمديرية العامة للتربية في محافظة صلاح الدين / قضاء سامراء خلال الفصل الدراسي الأول للعام الدراسي 2014-2015. توصل البحث إلى عدة نتائج لعل من أهمها وجود علاقة موجبة ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى (0.05) بين التفكير الجانبي والدافعية نحو مادة لرياضيات بصورة عامة لدى طلاب وطالبات الصف الخامس العلمي، وفي ضوء ذلك توصي الباحثة بوضع بعض المواضيع التي تساعد على تنمية التفكير الجانبي بنحو أفضل في جميع المراحل الدراسية وتوفير بيئة تعليمية مشوقة، والاهتمام بالجانب الفكري والوجداني للمتعلم. The paper aims to identify the relationship between the lateral thinking and motivation towards mathematics among students in middle school and to achieve this goal, the researchers apply the test of lateral thinking and motivation scale to learn mathematics research sample of (921) students from the fifth scientific grade in day secondary and prep schools Directorate-General for Education in Salahuddin province/ Samarra during the first semester of the academic year 2014-2015. Current research has come to several results, most notably the presence of a statistically significant positive relationship at the level (0.05) between the lateral thinking and motivation toward substance to athletes in general, the students of the fifth grade science, and in the light of this, the researcher recommends the development of some of the topics that will help the development of thinking lateral estimated best in all stages of education and provide an exciting learning environment, and the attention to the intellectual and emotional learner.
