This research aimed at investigating the difficulties that encounter EFL students in secondary schools in using and understanding phrasal verbs, the researcher uses a test and questionnaire to collect the data. The researcher uses Statistical Package for Social sciences (SPSS) to analyze the obtained data. The final result shows that EFL students in secondary schools encounter some difficulties in using and understanding phrasal verbs, and most of the teachers in secondary school are not well trained to teach phrasal verbs. Accordingly, the researcher formulates some recommendations to help in minimizing the difficulties of phrasal verbs such as training the teacher in secondary school to teach phrasal verbs and including phrasal verbs in the syllabus.
