The study aimed to know the degree of biology teachers ’use in high school in Iraq to modern teaching strategies and their relationship to the degree of their use of methods of developing scientific thinking among students from the teachers’ point of view in Iraq. The population consisted of all biology teachers in secondary schools in Salahuddin Governorate in the Republic of Iraq, during the second semester of the academic year 2019/2020, whose number was (590) biology teachers. A sample was chosen randomly from the study population and it consisted of (234) biology teachers in secondary schools in Salahuddin Governorate in Iraq. The study used the descriptive correlational approach. A questionnaire was distributed, and the results of the study showed that the degree of use of biology teachers in the secondary stage in Iraq to modern teaching strategies from the point of view of teachers in Iraq came with a medium degree, and that the degree of use of biology teachers of the methods of developing scientific thinking among students from the point of view of teachers in Iraq came in a medium degree as well. The results also showed there is no statistically significant difference to the level of statistical significance (α = 0.05) between the averages of biology teachers at the secondary level in Iraq in the light of teaching strategies attributed to the difference in the gender variable. Also, the results showed the presence of significant differences between the members of the study sample attributed to the variable of experience; in favor of those whose experience was more than 10 years. Also, the presence of statistically significant differences at the level of statistical significance (α = 0.05) between the averages of the study members ’estimates of the responses of biology teachers in the secondary stage in Iraq in the light of scientific thinking methods in the organizing ideas aspect, attributed to the difference of the gender variable in favor of males, also there were significant differences between the members of the study sample attributed to the years of experience in favor of those who have had more than 10 years of experience, and the existence of correlation between the degree to which modern teaching strategies are used by biology teachers in secondary schools in Iraq and the degree of their use of methods of developing scientific thinking among students from the point of view of teachers. In light of the results, the most important of which are: Directing those in charge of training programs for teachers in the Iraqi Ministry of Education to conduct training courses for biology teacher to train them on the use of modern teaching strategies and the skill of scientific thinking.
