The purpose of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of a counseling program based on the story method as a way of guidance to improve psychological hardness among a sample of 15 male and female children with special needs who lost one or both parents (orphans). The children attended at School of Mental Education, Shebeen Elkoum, Menoufia Governorate for the academic year 2013/ 2014. A scale of psychological hardness was prepared by the researchers and administered to the participants in 16 counseling sessions. Results of the study showed the effectiveness of the story method in developing psychological hardness among special needs orphan children. (Published abstract)
