This study aimed to determine the necessary training needs for female teachers of art education of intermediate and secondary schools concerning identifying and nurturing artistically gifted student, and detecting the possible existence of statistically significant differences between the views of the study population attributed to the difference in the academic stage. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher used the descriptive approach, and constructed a questionnaire of four axes: the first axis included (10) training needs related to the concept of art giftedness and artistic creativity, and the second axis included (5) training needs related to the identification of artistically gifted student's characteristics, and the third axis included (13) training needs regarding the methods of identifying artistically gifted student, and the fourth axis included (22) training needs related to the methods of nurturing artistically gifted student. This questionnaire was distributed to the study population consists of (188) art education female teachers; out of which (97) were middle school teachers and (91) high school teachers in the city of Makkah. To analyze the data and extract the results, the study used frequencies, percentages, averages and standard deviations, and t-test for independent samples. According to the point of view of the study population, the study concluded (10) training needs at a very large scale, and (28) training needs at a large scale, and (12) training needs at a medium scale. Results of the study also revealed that there were no statistically significant differences between the average responses of the study population regarding the extent of importance and needs for training on the needs identified in the questionnaire in each axis, and for all axes combined, that could be attributed to different academic stage. The study presented a number of recommendations for those who prepare and train art education teachers with focused on the need for an in-service training program for art education teachers related to knowledge and skills necessary to identify and nurture artistically gifted student. Moreover, the study suggested a number of strongly related studies to the current study topic. (Published abstract)
