هدفت هذه الدراسة إلى تحليل محتوى مقرر اللغة الإنجليزية (Traveller_3) للصف الثاني الثانوي في ضوء المتطلبات الاجتماعية والبيئة المحلية للكشف عن مدى تضمين مقرر اللغة الإنجليزية للمتطلبات الاجتماعية والبيئة المحلية على مستوى المادة العلمية والأنشطة والتدريبات والوسائل والتقنيات التعليمية. كما هدفت إلى التعرف على المقترحات اللازمة لتطوير المادة في ضوء هذه المتطلبات. ولتحقيق ذلك تم استخدام المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. وتم بناء استمارة تحليل محتوى من خلال الاطلاع على الدراسات ذات الصلة، وتم التأكد من صدقها وثباتها من خلال عرضها على مجموعة من المحكمين ومن خلال أدوات الثبات الملائمة. وأسفرت نتائج الدراسة عن أن مقرر اللغة الإنجليزية (Traveller_3) للصف الثاني الثانوي تناول المتطلبات الاجتماعية والثقافية بدرجات متفاوتة تعكس جميعها تضمين المحتوى لهذه المتطلبات بصورة منخفضة في كثير من العناصر وبصورة متوسطة لغالبية العناصر، ولم تتحقق هذه المتطلبات في بعض العناصر. وأوصت الدراسة بضرورة دراسة عناصر البيئة المحلية والثقافة الوطنية وتمثيلها في المنهج من خلال أنشطة علمية تثير اهتمام المتعلم وتثري خبراته السابقة. The current research aimed to analyze the content of the Traveller_3 textbook for the second secondary grade in light of the social requirements and the local environment. The study examined the extent to which the English language textbook represents the social requirements and local environment in terms of the material, activities, exercises, methods and educational technologies. The aim of the research was to identify the suggestions needed to develop the textbook in light of these requirements. To achieve these goals, the researchers used the descriptive approach based on content analysis. The researchers constructed a content analysis form by looking at the relevant research and literature. The researchers verified the validity and reliability of the study tool by presenting it to a group of arbitrators and through the appropriate reliability tools. The results of the study showed that the Traveller_3secondary school textbook addressed the social and cultural requirements to varying degrees, all of which reflected the inclusion of these requirements in a rather small way in many components and moderately for the majority of components. In addition, these components were not existent in some components. The study recommended considering the local environment and national culture and representing them in the curriculum through scientific activities that interest the learner and enrich his previous experiences.
