هدف البحث الحالي الى التعرف على مستوى الثقافة البيولوجية لدى عينة من طلبة الصف الثالث الثانوي العلمي بمحافظة تعز. ومن أجل الإجابة عن أسئلة البحث استخدم الباحث المنهج الوصفي، حيث قام بإعداد اختبار في الثقافة البيولوجية والتأكد من صلاحيته لقياس ما أعد لأجله، وقد تكونت العينة من 277 طالباً وطالبة من طلبة هذا الصف اُختيرت بطريقة قصدية من تسع مدارس ثانوية للبنين والبنات، طُبِّق عليها الاختبار في نهاية الفصل الدراسي الثاني للعام الدراسي 2013-2014. وتم جمع البيانات وتحليلها باستخدام الأساليب الإحصائية المناسبة. وكانت النتائج كما يلي: مستوى الثقافة البيولوجية لدى عينة البحث أقل من حد الكفاية المطلوب للاختبار وهو 70% من الدرجة الكلية لاختبار الثقافة البيولوجية. وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية في مستوى الثقافة البيولوجية لدى عينة البحث يعزى لمتغير الجنس (ذكور- إناث) ولصالح الإناث، بينما انعدمت دلالة الفروق في هذا المستوى وفقا لمتغير مكان الدراسة (مدينة- ريف) وللتفاعل بين الجنس ومكان الدراسة. وبناء على هذه النتائج قدّم الباحث عدة توصيات التي قد تساهم في تحسين اداء الطلبة في الثقافة البيولوجية. The purpose of this study was to identify the level of Biological literacy among a sample of third grade secondary science students in Taizgovernorate. In order to answer the research questions, the researcher used the descriptive approach, which set up the test in biological literacy, , and the sample consisted of 277 male and female students from this class was chosen deliberately, from nine secondary schools for boys and girls, the test was presented at the end of the second semester of the academic year 2013-2014. Data was collected and analyzed using appropriate statistical methods. The results were as follows: The level of biological Literacy among research sample is below the required basic competence for the measurement of 70% from the total marks on the scale of the Biological literacy. The presence of statistically significant differences in the level of biological literacy among a research sample is attributed to gender (male- female) in favor of females, while there is a lack significance differences at this level, according to the variable place of study (city- rural) and the interaction between sex and place of study. Based on these results, the researcher presented several recommendations that may contribute to improve the performance of students in the biological literacy (Published abstract)
