The study aims to reveal the academic identity of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, and how far it meets the requirements of the academic community, from the perspective of faculty members. Then, some proposed methods are developed to make the identity more active, through reality analysis and Sowt. The study used the descriptive survey method, applicable to a sample of faculty members of 235. The findings include, the University of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic moderately contributes to the production of knowledge through its academic identity as well as the use of knowledge to prepare the individual. Meanwhile, the faculty members believe that the University of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic contributes significantly to the dissemination of knowledge for the development of the society through its academic identity. There were statistically significant differences between the sample responses on the first theme (knowledge production), and the third one (using knowledge) and the questionnaire as a whole according to the variable of specialization in favor of those belonging to the linguistic domain over those belonging to the social and Shari’ah fields. There were also statistically significant differences for the second theme (dissemination of knowledge) inclining to the social field category. Some statistically significant differences are captured in the sample responses to the first theme (knowledge production) and the questionnaire as a whole according to the academic rank for the “professors’” category, while the responses of the “associate professors” were more statistically significant on the second theme (dissemination of knowledge) and the third (knowledge use).
