The objectives of this study were to investigate the major learning styles and level of critical thinking for the students of King Abdullah II excellence secondary schools in the light of student’s gender and grad. The study sample consisted of 122 students; 70 of them were males and 52 were females. The questionnaire of learning styles was developed by the investigator based on the four dimensions of Fleming’s model (VARK: Visual, Audial, Read-write, Kinesthetic). The critical thinking level was measured by Watson-Glaser Critical Thinking Appraisal of five dimensions (Recognize assumptions, Evaluate arguments, Deductions, Interpreting, Inferences). The results showed that students of King Abdullah II excellence schools exhibited high levels in all learning styles, and a moderate level in the total score of critical thinking as well in its five dimensions. There was a significant correlation between the total score of the critical thinking and the kinesthetic learning style, while no significant correlations were detected between the critical thinking score and other learning styles. The results showed significant effect of gender and grade level on critical thinking score, and these differences were attributed to females and 12th grade, respectively. The study recommended the introduction of classroom activities based on the enrichment of all types of learning styles among students, with the emphasis on the kinesthetic and visual activities for females. In addition, it is necessary to train the students on critical thinking skills and linking them to the appropriate learning styles. (Author’s abstract)
