The present study aims at identifying the relationship between emotional intelligence and social competence among gifted students with learning disabilities as well as the differences in emotional intelligence and social competence according to the variable of type of learning difficulty and grade. The population of the study includes (30) gifted students from the fourth and sixth grade, enrolled in the programs of learning difficulties in Riyadh, during the academic year 1435-1436 AH. Emotional intelligence scale, social competence scale, list of teacher's assessment of behavioral characteristics of gifted children with learning disabilities, standard progressive matrices test (SPM) and circles test were applied. The study reveals that there is a statistically significant positive correlation between emotional intelligence and social competence. Also, there are statistically significant differences in the means of ranks scores of the gifted students with learning disabilities on the emotional intelligence scale attributed to the type of difficulty in favor of students with learning disabilities in writing. There are statistically significant differences in the means of ranks scores of the gifted students with learning disabilities on the emotional intelligence scale attributed to grade in favor of sixth grade students. There are statistically significant differences in the means of ranks scores of the gifted students with learning disabilities on the social competence scale attributed to the type of difficulty in favor of students with learning disabilities in writing. There are statistically significant differences in the means of ranks scores of the gifted students with learning disabilities on the social competence scale attributed to grade in favor of sixth grade students.
