This study aimed to discover the obstacles of learning math, and to put a preview to overcome such obstacles for grade 11 human sciences stream in khan younis, the problem of the study is specified by discovering these obstacles and to put a preview to overcome it, to achieve that the study sought to answer some questions as mentioned. The researcher used in his study the descriptive analytical method which is represented in tow questionnaires for the teachers and the students. The validity and reliability of these tow questionnaires are approved by suitable ways. The sample of the study is consists of (366) students and (38) teachers. After that they were analyzed statistically using (SPSS) programme to pinpoint the major obstacles of maths, learning for grade 11 human sciences stream. Then the researcher interviews some math teachers for grade11 human sciences stream to recognize the obstacles and a clearer way. The study tools are implemented in the second semester of 2012/2013. The results were as follow: There are some obstacles in maths, learning for grade 11 human sciences stream. The most highlighted obstacles are related to the questionnaire fields. The first field belongs to the textbook. The units of the textbook are weakly related to each other, also it does not care about students needs and interests. The next field is related to the students and the obstacles are; the students are interested in some other things which may affect their achievement like internet, football matches, entertainment… etc. Besides, there is a general weakness in memorizing the mathematical rules. Finally, students have negative attitudes towards maths learning. Another field is related to the teacher in which the obstacles are: the teachers use the traditional methods in presenting maths lessons. They don’t use the educational aids in their lessons, and they use lecturing rather than discussion .The last field is related to classroom environment and school administration, it is clear that the most important obstacles are the over crowded classrooms and the inappropriate lessons programme for the students. According to the previous results mentioned through this study the researcher has many recommendations, these obstacles shouldn’t be ignored, math syllabus human sciences stream are to be reconsidered, and diagnostic tests should be provided to pinpoint the weakness points in order to remedy them. In addition you should make sure that students have to learn maths basics since the elementary. Also teachers should be stimulated differently. Finally, communication should be clear with the school, family, community and the ministry of higher education these obstacles. (Author's abstract)
