This study aims at identifying the impact of employing (K. W. L. H) strategy on developing the reading speed and reading comprehension of the fourth primary grade students. To achieve this objective, the main problem of the study is specified in the following question: What is the impact of employing (K. W. L. H) Strategy on developing the reading speed and reading comprehension of the fourth primary grade students? The following sub-questions can be derived from the above main question: 1) What are the basic features of (K. W. L. H) Strategy used for the development of some reading speed and reading comprehension skills? 2) What are the skills of reading speed intended to be developed in the fourth primary grade female classroom? 3) What are the skills of reading comprehension intended to be developed in the fourth primary grade female classroom? 4) Are there statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the female student’s experimental group and the control group in the observation card of the reading speed? 5) Are there statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the female student’s experimental group and the control group in the test of the reading comprehension? The researcher used the experimental method where the study was applied on a purposive sample consists of 58 female students of the fourth primary grade at the Primary Co-ed School (A) in Rafah. The study sample was divided into two groups: an experimental group consisting from 29 female students and a control group that consists of 29 students. The researcher first tested the impact of the independent variable, using K.W.L.H strategy, on the first subordinate variable “reading speed”. Then she tested the impact of the independent variable, using K.W.L.H strategy, on the second subordinate variable “reading comprehension”. The study was conducted in the first semester of the academic year 2014-2015. The achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared a list of reading speed skills, another list for the reading comprehension skills , a test for reading comprehension skill, an observation card for reading speed skill and a teacher’s guide. After verifying the validity and reliability of all tools, students of both groups sat for a pre-test and post-test then results of both tests were analyzed to identify the differences between average of students in both groups. The researcher also used a T-test to determine if the averages of both groups are significantly different from each other. There are statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the female student’s experimental group and the control group in the observation card of the reading speed in favor of the experimental group. There statistically significant differences at the level (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the female student’s experimental group and the control group in the test of the reading comprehension for the favor of the experimental group. In the light of the study findings, the researcher recommends paying more attention to student’s practice of (K.W.L.H) strategies in general. Teachers’ are also recommended to have training session on employing (K.W.L.H) strategy to develop both the reading speed and comprehension of students. It is also necessary to employ modern teaching strategies in general and developing the reading skills in particular special the reading speed and reading comprehension to encourage and satisfy the educational quest of students.
