This research aims to study the reality of school libraries in the schools of basic education in the city of tenderness in Syria, and uncover the strengths and weaknesses in the library and to develop proposals that will activate the role of the school library. The researcher adopted a descriptive approach to the analytical study of this reality and has prepared two questionnaires as tools of research and identification of the pupils drew a 15-item questionnaire for teachers were made up of 6 open-ended questions. And to see how they use and inform them of the library. The research sample is a random sample of students of 200 students and a random sample of teachers numbering 100 teachers. Of the findings of the researcher: 1) School library in most schools is a store of books, maps, drawings and others. 2) Most of the teachers do not encourage students to use the school library does not require them to functions require the use of library and refer to the resources. 3) A small number of students borrow books from the school library. 4) The librarian if the school is not academically qualified to receive this functionality.(Published abstract)
