The study aimed to identify the obstacles facing strategic planning in technical education from the point of view of the technical education officials in the Ministry of Education, and to identify the most significant obstacles to the strategic planning in technical education and determine the requirements of strategic planning from the point of view of technical education officials, the researcher used descriptive method. The questionnaire was used as a data collection tool. The statistical methods used for data analysis were: arithmetical averages, standard deviations. The findings of the study revealed: the multiplicity of sources of obstacles to the strategic planning of technical education according to the results of their arrangement: organizational constraints, physical obstacles, human obstacles and methodological obstacles. The officials pointed out the requirements of strategic planning for technical education: the establishment of databases for technical education, current and future availability, and the need for communication between strategic planners and implementers. The results also showed that there are no statistically significant differences on the responses of technical education officials due to the variables of qualification and years of experience. The recommendations of the study include activating the role of the Strategic Planning Department in the National Council for Technical and Technological Education at the Ministry of Education, spreading the culture of change and development through the application of strategic planning, and communicating with international institutions and benefiting from their expertise.
