This study aims to determine the competencies required for the female teachers of language competences in the semester system and the curriculum system in Jeddah. The researcher uses the descriptive approach. The researcher chooses a stratified random sample consisted of (250) female teachers from high schools of semester system and high schools of curriculum system in Jeddah Governorate. The study tool is a questionnaire consisted of (50) items covering three areas. The data was analysed using (SPSS Program). The results of this paper revealed the following: First: The study results show that the degree of competences determination required for the female teachers of language competences in the semester system and the curriculum system in Jeddah reaches a great estimation, with an average of (4.10). Second: The degree of competencies determination required for the female teachers of language competences in the semester system and the curriculum system in Jeddah on the fields of study is as follows: 1) The field of planning reaches a high degree of determination, with an average of (4.09). 2) The field of implementation reaches a high degree of determination, with an average of (4.11). 3) The field of evaluation reaches a very high degree of determination, with an average of (4.10). In light of the results of this paper, the researcher has proposed different recommendations that aim to activate the competencies of Arabic language teachers, of the most important recommendations is the emphasis on the necessity of teacher’s preparation institutions to focus on following the competencies in improving the competencies of the high school teachers. Arabic language supervisors should be guided by competencies list when they supervise high school teachers. It is important to consider the competencies when teaching field studies for high school students. Reconsider the teacher’s preparation programs especially those programs related to Arabic language, and to keep in mind its suitability to the local and international changes. It is also recommended to prepare training courses for the teachers especially Arabic language teachers, considering that these trainings should adopt to changes in the local and international teaching environment. It is also important to provide the teachers with training courses that aim to allow them to explore the results of the studies related to competencies. (Published Abstract)
