تعتبر المشكلات البيئية من أهم المشكلات التي تفاقمت وتعقدت بصورة شديدة مع مرور الزمن مما استدعى الحاجة للاهتمام بالتربية البيئية والعمل على الحد أو التقليل من الإضرار بالبيئة والمحافظة عليها. أحد هذه العناصر التي تلعب دوراً في التوعية والمعرفة والمساهمة في تنوير وإكساب المهارات اللازمة في تشخيص وحل هذه المشكلات البيئية هو مدير المدرسة. يركز هذا البحث على الدور الذي يقوم فيه مدراء المدارس بتوعية ومساعدة وبناء الاتجاهات المناسبة تجاه المشكلات البيئية بمشاركة جميع الشركاء (معلم- طالب- أولياء أمور- والمجتمع ككل). توصل البحث إلى أهمية تزويد المجتمع بالوعي والفهم اللازمين وكذلك التشجيع والاهتمام في المحافظة على البيئة من خلال الدور الكبير، والمهم، الذي يقوم فيه مدراء المدارس لتغيير سلوك الأفراد تجاه البيئة، وكذلك دورهم في تزويد المعلمين بالمفاهيم والمعارف والمهارات التي تعزز قابليتهم في تطوير مفاهيم ومعارف الطلبة تجاه بيئتهم، بالإضافة إلى خلق حوافز الاهتمام بالتربية البيئية والحد من أضرار البيئة. Over several years a lot of changes happened to the earth’s environment which increases its damage. That led many countries to call for an urgent forum in order to prevent and reduce this damage. One of the most principles that play great role in providing needed skills in diagnosing and solving environmental problems are schools head teachers. This research focus on head teachers role in helping and providing schools stakeholders with the awareness and understanding along with building appropriate attitudes toward environmental education. The research reaches to the importance for providing schools stakeholders with the need awareness and understanding for protecting the environment through head teachers. The study also concluded to the importance role carried by schools head teachers in providing teachers with concepts, knowledge and skills that enhance their capabilities in developing pupils’ knowledge’s and concepts toward their environment along with motivating the organization as a whole through giving full attention and consideration to the environmental education.
