The aim of this study was to identify difficulties facing the practical training program at the Faculty of Education in the Arab Open University, and to provide recommendations that can contribute to the development of the program. In order to achieve this aim, the researchers reviewed the contents of the two courses, namely practical training (1) and practical training (2); and conducted interviews with (22) field supervisors of the first semester, 2008/2009. The results of the study showed that the numbers of schools selected for training were not enough, resulting in large group of student teachers in every school; schools were geographically located in remote areas for trainees to reach on time; school administrators did not allow trainees to stay throughout the school day. In addition, students were not allowed to be trained in public schools. Based on these results, a number of recommendations were provided to enhance and develop the practical training for education students program at the Arab Open University and other similar universities.
