هدفت الدراسة إلى تعرّف دور جامعة دمشق في تحقيق مقومات مجتمع المعرفة، إضافة إلى معرفة الاختلاف بين آراء أعضاء هيئة التدريس في جامعة دمشق نحو دور الجامعة في تحقيق بعض مقومات مجتمع المعرفة، والمتمثلة في هذه الدراسة بمقوم حرية التفكير والتعبير، ومقوم التبادل المعرفي، ومقوم التركيز على المعرفة، وذلك تبعاً لمتغيرات الدراسة (الجنس والرتبة الأكاديمية ونوع الكلية). وتكونت عينة الدراسة من 120 من أعضاء هيئة التدريس من الذكور والإناث مثلت ما نسبته حوالي 20.48% من مجموع أعضاء هيئة التدريس في الكليات المختارة، ولتحقيق أهداف الدراسة أعد الباحثان استبانة مكونة من 18 عبارة موزعة على ثلاثة مقومات هي: مقوم حرية التفكير والتعبير، ومقوم مراعاة التبادل المعرفي ومقوم التركيز على المعرفة، واستخدم الباحثان في هذه الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي، وتوصلت الدارسة إلى نتيجة مفادها: عدم قيام جامعة دمشق بأدوارها المطلوبة نحو تحقيق مقومات مجتمع المعرفة موضوع الدراسة، حيث جاءت المتوسطات العامة للمحاور الثلاثة ضعيفة. كما دلت نتائج الدراسة على عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة إحصائية عند مستوى الدلالة α≤0.05. This study aims to identify the role of Damascus University in achieving the components of the knowledge society, as well as to know the difference between the views of faculty members at the University of Damascus about the role of the university in achieving some of the elements of a knowledge society. The components explored in this study are freedom of thought and expression, knowledge sharing, and focus on knowledge, in terms of the study variables (gender, academic rank and type of college). The study sample consisted of 120 of the faculty members, males and females, representing about 20.48% of the total faculty members at the selected colleges. The tool of the study was a 18-item questionnaire combining the three elements. Results of the study revealed that there are no statistically significant differences at (α≤0.05) between the responses of the faculty members about the role of the University of Damascus in achieving the elements of the knowledge society, in terms of the study variables (gender, academic rank and college). The results also showed the failure of the University of Damascus to fulfil the required roles in order to achieve the components of the knowledge society under study, where the total averages of the three dimensions were low.
